Joseph Haydn composed Cello Concerto No.1 in C major in his youth. After its premiere at the Prague Spring International Music Festival, this piece has been regarded as one of the most significant parts of the cello repertoire ever since. Haydn uses steady entry notes several times, the latter on a very high, penetrating G. Haydn's influence of the C Major Cello Concerto has become one of the main elements of the cello repertoire, after its 20th century premiere of Milos Saddle Czechoslovak Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Charles McKerras on 19 May 1962.
